(Diana) Lucía mariño puentes
artistic activist.
master's degree in sustainable development.
Phd student in social sciences.
I am Diana Lucía Mariño Puentes (1986), a colombian urban artivist and a doctor in Social Sciences of the Autonomous University of Baja California Sur, Mexico.

As an activist, I stand out for my participation with the movement Cebras Por La Vida* specifically with the interventions in the City of La Paz (MX.) and Mexico City. Thus, I have learned to collectively demand the right to the city and legitimize it with colors. Thanks to this, I have generated artistic collective processes of tactical urbanism, which have enriched my reflections between theory and praxis.

As a researcher, I've developed the research (2021) called:

Artivism for social change. Experiences and creative methodological models for social transformation(action).
Emblematic cases in Mexico City (Mexico) and Bogota (Colombia).

Built from participatory methodologies focused on artivism (art + activism) understood as: generating action of new artistic-political narratives aimed at social change and its ability to promote transformative actions in the creation of new imaginaries to demand the right to the city.

My main investigative question was: Can counter-cultural resistance inspire societal change**? To achieve this, methodologically, I am building a model of transdisciplinary approach where I merge urban activism with social research. Within the analysis I propose, I demonstrate how certain expressions and artistic practices constitute forms of countercultural resistance to processes of fragmentation, diaspora and concentration, common to what has been called neoliberal city . Theoretically, from Latin American utopian thought, I discuss with three analytical categories mainly: the commodification of space, artistic and symbolic practices, and collaborative networks / social movements.

As a researcher, my dream is to build a network in solidarity about arts, social change, and resitance. I want to offer my experience to the community and improve my understanding of the public space, as a scenario of symbolic creation***, within which it is possible to: 1) Encourage meetings to rebuild the social fabric; 2) Discuss the complexities of the current civil/social crisis; and 3) Examine the discussion of urban public space crisis and the lines of thought focused on the urban public space as a common good of humanity.
